Dawson County High School is a 9-12 public school, with an enrollment of more than 1,000 students. DCHS students and staff moved into the present facility (145,000 square foot, situated on 60 acres) in December of 1997. Health and medical instructional facilities in addition to 12 classrooms (10,000 square feet) were added in August of 2004. Dawson County High School employs a full-time school nurse and a School Resource Officer (SRO). More than 60 percent of the school's staff holds a master's degree or higher. Currently there are over 70 certified personnel on staff at DCHS.
As a member of GHSA Region 7-AAA, DCHS offers 30 athletic teams, 32 clubs, a first-rate fine arts program, CTAE pathways, a rigorous academic preparation, as well as numerous community service opportunities. Dawson County High School was the recipient of the 2010 and 2012 GHSA Sportsmanship Award, and we take great pride in representing our community on the playing fields and in the classrooms.
