Service Hours


Student use the Community Hour Service Log to keep track of their hours.  In order to receive credit, the logs must be turned into the counseling office.

Community Service Program

 

Each year Dawson County High School students are recognized for their dedication to our community.  Upon graduation, students who complete 200 hours of documented service hours will receive a gold service seal on their diploma.  Students who complete 300 hours will receive the gold seal and an honors cord to wear at graduation.

 

Those seeking to complete community service must adhere to the following guidelines…

 

1.    Maintain community service log

a.   Logs must be signed by the community supervisor

2.    Community Services hours must be completed outside of the school day.

3.    Community Service must NOT be done for or supervised by family members.

4.    Service hours may be part of a school club or organization outside normal school hours.

5.    Only 75% of the total service hours can be obtained from one activity.

6.    Maximum of 8 volunteer hours a day can be earned.

7.    No compensation may be received for completed service hours.

8.    Court ordered service hours will not count towards seal/cord

Service Seal:  200 Hours                                       Service Seal and Cord:  300 Hours

ALL SERVICE HOURS MUST BE COMPLETED BY MARCH 30
