Meningitis Vaccine Clinic

Meningitis Vaccine Clinic
Posted on 04/19/2023
Parents/Guardians,

In order for your child to be up-to-date and compliant with all state-required immunizations, they must receive the Meningococcal Booster Shot (MCV4) prior to entering 11th grade. Meningococcal disease is a serious bacterial illness that affects the brain and the spinal cord. Meningitis can cause shock, coma, and death within hours of the first symptoms. To help protect your children and others from meningitis, Georgia law requires students to be vaccinated against this disease unless the child has an exemption.

The Dawson County Health Department will be at Dawson County High School on Wednesday, April 19th, 2023, from 9:00-10:00 am to administer the meningitis booster vaccination. If you would like your child to participate in the school-based vaccination clinic, please fill out the consent form attached. Your child will also receive a hard copy from their school to bring home on April 12th, 2023. The deadline for turning in the form is April 18th, 2023. If you have any questions, please reach out to your school nurse or data clerk.
